Phentermine tablets

To date, Phentermine is available in three dosage forms: modified-release capsules, oral and orally disintegrating tablets.

  • Phentermine modified-release capsules include 30 mg or 15 mg of the active ingredient as ion exchange resin.
  • Phentermine tablets contain 8 mg, 15 mg, 30 mg or 37.5 mg of the active ingredient in the form of Hydrochloride.

Ion-exchange resin promotes a gradual release of Phentermine and maintenance of its maximum concentration in the blood. Thanks to this, Phentermine capsules help to control appetite within about 10-14 hours.

After using Phentermine tablets, the peak concentration of the drug in the blood begins to gradually decrease after about 5 hours. However, this does not have a significant effect on appetite control throughout the day.

Phentermine oral tablets dissolve in the stomach faster than capsules, so their therapeutic effect begins earlier. Unlike capsules, Phentermine tablets can be divided into two or more parts that greatly facilitates their use or dose selection.

Thus, Phentermine capsules and tablets have their own advantages. Therefore, choose the most convenient dosage form of this anorectic based on personal preferences or habits.

Phentermine capsules including Duromine need stomach acid to enable the release of the active ingredient from the beads. People with reflux who take Nexium, Prilosec or Losec should not switch from Duromine to a different brand because blood levels of Phentermine (the active ingredient) could rapidly escalate and cause unwanted effects such as sleeplessness, rapid heart rate, increased blood pressure etc which could be risky in some people.
