Duromine: Time-Tested Weight Loss

The secret of high efficiency of Duromine pills is in its manufacture technology.

  • Diet pills Duromine contain Phentermine, an amphetamine-like anorectic agent as the main active ingredient.
  • Duromine contains an ion-exchange resin complex as an auxiliary active ingredient.

Duromine is a medicine for obesity treatment, fairly considered to be on the top of the list of most prescribed anti-obesity medicines over the last decade. A key advantage of Duromine is that a single dose of the medicine is sufficient to control appetite from the morning till the evening.

Due to its long anorectic action, Duromine is ideal for once-daily dosing.

At the same time, Duromine is formulated so that being very strong, not to be toxic. Therefore, it is a long and powerful anorectic action does not cause additional risks for development of unwanted side effects.

Ion-exchange resin is contained in the composition of Duromine to persistently maintain the blood concentration of the active ingredient Phentermine at therapeutically effective levels. An ion-exchange resin slows down the release of the active ingredient Phentermine, and thus increases its anorectic effect duration.

An ion-exchange resin complex is stable at interaction with food and water, and releases Phentermine only interacting with the gastric juice. Therefore, the amount of food and water consumed does not affect the speed of Phentermine release.

Interacting with the gastric acid, an ion-exchange resin releases Phentermine gradually, at the same speed. Therefore, an anorectic action of Phentermine (Duromine) remains at a high level for a long time, sufficient to control appetite.

An ion-exchange resin is a polymer compound, not absorbed by the body. Therefore, it is not toxic and completely excreted from the body unchanged.

Because of an ion-exchange resin that releases Phentermine slowly and gradually, Duromine pills are characterized by several competitive advantages over other Phentermine-containing drugs.

First, a long-acting anorectic effect reduces frequency of Duromine dose intakes up to once a day. Once-daily administration makes obesity treatment more convenient, and significantly reduces a chance to miss scheduled doses of Duromine.

Second, because of the low release of Phentermine:

  • risk of acute overdose is reduced
  • abuse potential is reduced
  • intensity of side effects is decreased

Duromine has several serious disadvantages, the main is that Duromine has many contraindications.

Duromine pills should not be prescribed to obese men and women with:

  • Cardiovascular risks or previously diagnosed severe cardiovascular/cerebro-vascular disease.
  • Have had or have mental or psycho-emotional disorders.
  • History of allergic reactions to sympathomimetic or medicines from the group of amphetamines / amphetamine derivatives.
  • Diagnosed hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid gland) or glaucoma.

Also Duromine should not be indicated to children and adolescents under 12 years of age, and to adults who have ever:

  • alcohol or drug abusing;
  • suffered from alcohol or drug dependence.

Teens over 12 years of age and adult men and women with no contraindications to Duromine can use these diet pills for continuous anti-obesity therapy up to three months.

Once three-month therapy is ended, ratio of benefits and risks of Duromine should be evaluated, and further obesity treatment to be decided to continue or terminate.

The most common cause of Duromine withdrawal after three-month treatment course is reduced effectiveness of the anti-obesity medicine.

Efficiency can be reduced because prolonged use of Duromine pills may develop in patients tolerance to its anorectic effect.

Any signs of tolerance to Duromine disappear within few weeks or months after the three-month anti-obesity therapy. If diagnostic tests confirm no tolerance to Duromine effects, application of these diet pills can be resumed.

Besides tolerance to an anorectic action, Duromine pills may cause other adverse events, including cardiovascular, psychiatric, and gastrointestinal side effects.

If side effects are mild to moderate, Duromine dosage should not be changed or stopped. If undesired side effects are adverse or cause serious risks for general health, the patient can be recommended to:

  • stop using Duromine for weight loss, or
  • reduce the total daily dose / frequency of Duromine application

To fight against obesity, diet pills Duromine containing different doses of anorectic agent Phentermine can be prescribed. Each Duromine pill may contain:

  • 15 mg of Phentermine
  • 30 mg of Phentermine
  • 40 mg of Phentermine

The minimum effective daily dosage of Duromine makes 15mg per day. The maximum safe dose of Duromine is 40mg per day.

Capsules of 40mg Duromine are sold in Australia and Hong Kong, but not available in New Zealand, South Africa, and at other regional pharmaceutical markets. Therefore, in some countries, Duromine 40mg pills are not available.

It should be noted that in different countries, Duromine is indicated to different groups of patients. For example:

  • In New Zealand Duromine is approved for obesity treatment in patients with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher.
  • In Australia, Hong Kong, and South Africa Duromine is indicated for weight loss to patients with BMI equal to 25 or higher.

In addition to the said countries, in 2016, Duromine pills are very popular in Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, El Salvador, Singapore, United Kingdom, Costa Rica.

Duromine is exclusively supplied to all these countries by Valeant, a multinational pharmaceutical company, and its subsidiaries. Valeant is the owner of Duromine trademark and owns exclusive rights to supply Duromine pills to Asia Pacific and Africa countries.

Valeant is only one of several companies associated with a history of Duromine. Duromine brand was registered in 1960, and in different periods various pharmaceutical companies were related to this brand name.

3M Health Care (in the UK) and Inova (in Australia) were mentioned as the first right holders, manufacturers, and suppliers of Duromine at the international market.

iNova has been a subsidiary of 3M Pharmaceuticals for many years. But in 2006, 3M Pharmaceuticals sold its subsidiary iNova, including all patent rights to Duromine, to Ironbridge and its co-investor Archer Capital.

From 2006 to 2011, Archer Capital and Ironbridge ran iNova and were directly involved into Duromine commercialization in the international market.

In 2011, Archer Capital and Ironbridge decided to sell Inova and all rights to Duromine brand to Valeant company.

From 2006 to 2011, Archer Capital and Ironbridge ran iNova and were directly involved into Duromine commercialization in the international market.

In 2011, Archer Capital and Ironbridge decided to sell Inova and all rights to Duromine brand to Valeant company.
From 2011 till now, Valeant has been an exclusive owner of Duromine brand. However different pharmaceutical companies are still indicated as manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, and marketing authorization holders for Duromine.

  • The manufacturers of active ingredient Phentermine (contained in Duromine) are US companies Siegfried and Rhodia ChiRex.
  • The manufacturers of dosage form of Duromine are Douglas Pharmaceuticals and Valeant Pharmaceuticals.
  • The marketing authorization holder for Duromine in NZ is Bausch & Lomb (from 2014 joined Valeant).
  • The marketing authorization holder for Duromine in South Africa, Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia is iNova Pharmaceuticals.

In addition to Duromine pills, other Phentermine-containing anti-obesity drugs are available in some countries. For example, in Thailand and Singapore, Phentermine-containing pills Panbesy can be indicated instead of Duromine, and in the UK, and the Philippines – diet pills Ionamin.

Despite that Duromine pills are sold in a competitive environment, its price is annually growing in some countries. The most dynamic increase of Duromine cost is observed in South Africa.
At the end of 2015, the cost of one package* of 30 mg pill Duromine in South Africa amounted to about 280 ZAR**, and in just half a year increased by over 4 percentage points.

  • *30 diet pills
  • ** South African Rand

In mid-2016, one package Duromine 30mg cost 292 ZAR in South Africa. Taking into account exchange rate fluctuations and inflation, in the second half of 2016, the increase in Duromine cost is expected to remain in South Africa.

Duromine is well-known for Phentermine as its active ingredient that serves as a reliable appetite suppressant and weight loss aid. The medication works affecting the central nervous system, producing the desirable effect. The active component of the drug has a similar to antihistamine action and is potent to increase the level of energy.

Even though the medication is powerful and produces a drastic effect on diverse body functions, bare drug is not enough for a desirable result. An effective and fast treatment course should also include regular exercising and low-calorie diet.

Recommendations for Use, Side Effects

Despite Duromine is a prescription drug, there is a great number of online pharmacies offering the treatment over-the-counter. However, even purchasing the medication from trustworthy and reliable online drugstores, it is inevitable to receive doctor’s recommendations.

Consult your healthcare provider primarily to the treatment intake to ensure the medicine is safe and effective in your case, your general health condition suits the treatment and you do not meet any contraindications.

Inform your healthcare specialist about all the experienced and current health conditions and medications taken. Take Duromine right as prescribed by the doctor. Do not increase or decrease the recommended dose to avoid possible withdrawal reactions.

If you have missed a dose, take it as soon as possible, but omit it if the next scheduled one is soon to come.

Do not double the dose, as it can cause severe side effects. Among the most common Duromine downsides are euphoria, restlessness, fatigue, impotence, headaches, difficulty breathing, dry mouth, problems sleeping and others.

Seek medical advice if you have noticed any abnormalities or complications.

Hello Mike. Congratulations with your decision to change your life and reduce risks to your health that your excess weight may bring. First, judging from your weight and height, I can roughly say that your BMI is 39. (Roughly because I am not sure about the fat percentage in your body, still if you don’t like to exercise, I guess, the standard BMI calculation works accurate enough). Your goal should be 121 to 158 lbs, if you want to look great and feel great. I guess, you already figured that you have to lose about half of your current weight.… Read more »

Hello Lisa. Mike here. Took your advice. Doctor prescribed 30 mg Duromine at around 11 AM. Works great for me. No hunger till evening. Taking for a week now. Dry mouth worries me a little, but I try to drink enough water. Lost 2 lbs. not much. Hope for more. Any recommendations?

Hey Mike. Nice hearing from you again! Congrats with first success. Glad to hear Duromine 30mg works great for you. Dry mouth is something many people get while losing weight on Duromine. Just keep drinking enough water. As for further recommendations. I do have some for you. Now that you find it easily coping with your hunger, you have to make sure you eat something useful, when you do eat something. Remember, if you want to trigger your metabolism, you should eat properly. So, no matter how little to non-hungry you feel, I would advice you to have small meals… Read more »

Good evening Lisa. Been away for some time, but came back to share the good news. I managed to follow all your recommendations (besides the diary. Not for me, sorry). I even discovered several new fantastic recipes and started cooking more instead of ordering food. So, now I am a Chef ))) Most important is that I’ve been on Duromine 30 mg for a month and managed to lose 15 lbs. Can you imagine this?! People around tell me I look very nice. I guess, I do look better, because I feel better and more confident. However, weight is still… Read more »

Mike, what a great news! 15 lbs is just a start! You’re going really well. If people notice and tell you good things about your appearance, it already means that you should only continue without turning back. Now I would advice you to go and get yourself some new clothes. Not too many, may be something like a shirt or a pair of jeans. You will keep losing weight so they soon will be too large for you, but I really like the positive mood and self-confidence I notice in your last message. Make it even stronger! As for the… Read more »

Lisa, why oh why did you recommend me the swimming pool!!! I feel my arms, I feel my chest, I think I feel muscles that I never knew existed in my body. It’s a torture!!! Not sure I will go to the next swimming session. I think the coach hates me. sad(

Mike, I know how you feel. It’s not the time to throw in the towel. When it comes to muscles, you can be sure you worked well during a workout only if you feel sore the next day. Judging by what you write, you did a fantastic job yesterday! I am very proud of you! And let me uncover one small secret: your coach doesn’t hate you at all. In fact, if you feel all these muscles, your coach does a great job, too. What you can do now to relieve your soreness, is to take a warm bath, followed… Read more »

Good evening, dear Lisa. I am not letting you down and, first of all, I am not letting myself down. Went to the pool today. Actually, I wasn’t feeling so sore as on Sunday, so I didn’t hesitate that much anymore, I guess. Coach gave a really serious load today and I though I will remain in the locker room, but I felt very well and went home on foot. It’s a great feeling to realize I have lots of forces. I didn’t see such huge changes coming. If I don’t feel so sore tomorrow, like previous time, I think… Read more »

Hey, Mike, how’s it going? Another week passed. How are you feeling? Hope you didn’t give up the swimming workouts and did get the jeans you wanted. As for the vitamins. You should be careful with these, as they might boost hunger. I would advise you to give a blood test and see how you are doing, especially to check out whether you have a deficit of any minerals. Judging by its results, you might ask your doctor to prescribe you the best vitamin option for you.

Lisa, I am so glad to have only positive answers to all your questions: I am feeling great! I didn’t give up the swimming workouts! I did get the jeans!!! They were 3 sizes smaller than I used to buy and fit really well without hindering movement.
I got a good vitamin complex (doctor prescribed, don’t worry!) and I feel really well about the upcoming weighing. Just a week and I will know what we managed to achieve. I say we, because without your support and recommendations I would probably be still sitting on my couch complaining about my fate.

Thank you Mike, for the nice words. I am trying to do my best, but you have to realize that you did all the job. In fact, I wasn’t sure you will cope with all my tasks when we only started. You seemed to be very indecisive. Now I see, I was very wrong about you and I believe you will go until the end, until you reach your goal. You haven’t really told me about your nutrition. Do you have to fight any particular cravings, or they’re all gone? Do you follow the eating regime we have spoken about:… Read more »

The judgement day… 2 months on Duromine combined with your nutrition and exercising recommendations. I can say I was even fearing of getting on the scales. I was fearing of not seeing any considerable results… And today in the morning my weight was 193 lbs. I was taking off the scales and back on several times. I couldn’t believe my own eyes. I still can’t… How’s that for a weight loss progress, huh? )) I still have another month on Duromine and I already have literally nothing to wear. Everything looks like a camping tent on me. Oh, and my… Read more »

Mike, the news is fantastic! You deserve all the interest from the colleagues. Your results are outstanding! I am sure you know that. Congrats! Now let’s get more serious. I am glad you figured why you gained your belly and extra weight in the first place. If you liked sweet drinks, I am sure you also loved all the junk food you could think of. Are you sure you are not eating this stuff now? You have just a month left with your helper, Duromine. Weight loss depends only on your will power, you know that! This third month is… Read more »

Hi, Lisa. Sorry I’ve been silent for some time. Been too busy. Started the gym workouts. It was hard in the first week. Now feel better and more confident about my forces. Though, of course, I do have very very little free time. Work and exercising seem to be taking it all. Still, I know where I am heading! Also had some problems with controlling my appetite. Not sure why, but I started feeling quite hungry, even though still on Duromine 30 mg. Going to the doctor’s tomorrow to see if he suggests any changes in Duromine dose or dosing… Read more »

Mike, I’m sorry to hear you’re feeling down. I see it in many people around. Spring-time blues. It will pass. Try to make your days more cheerful by adding colorful vegetables to your menu and wearing brighter clothes. As a matter of fact, you should be happy and cheerful, considering the fact that you lost so much weight and managed to overcome your bad habits and laziness. Just look back 3 months ago and remember what you were like, what your days were like. Now you don’t have time to watch TV, because you are making yourself healthier and sexier.… Read more »

Lisa, hi again! Thank you for your comprehensive response, as always. Happy to tell you I lost another 20 pounds! It’s the second day I am off Duromine. No cravings so far, but I am nervous about this situation. Didn’t change the dosing before finishing it, since the doctor decided there is no use in changing it before the very finish. The doctor was really impressed with the way I look. He told me I lost about 10 years of age. Sounds nice! As you see, I lost less weight than during the previous month, but thanks to your explanations,… Read more »

Lisa, two months of summer flew like a day. I’ve been having lots of fun, rest and enjoyed every fresh vegetable I could get. Still exercising. Lost just 10 pounds in these months, but my body looks a lot more fit now. Cheers from Mike!!

Hey, Mike, nice to hear from you. Happy you still follow the recommendations and keep exercising. You did manage to change your life for better!!! Are you still coping with cravings to junk food, or do “infringe” the healthy eating regime?

Lisa, how do you do it? Do you have a mirror ball? I actually do eat junk food, but try to do it rarely. Despite this, I managed to maintain all the good eating habits you and Duromine helped me get. Still eat often in small portions and try to consume more vegetables. By the way, I also got used to drinking about 2 liters a day. Some more news on life change: my shopping assistant is now my girlfriend. Life’s getting better with each passing day. I feel younger and a lot more stronger than I was when this… Read more »

Mike, no mirror balls around, just a vast experience of working with junk-food fans. I know that the bad stuff they add in such food is hard to be forgotten by your taste buds, and you will be returning to it from time to time. Most important is to understand that it is bad for you and you have to make it up for your body during the rest of the time. If you feel you are strong enough to have just ONE cheating meal a week and eat healthy for the rest of it, you can afford having such… Read more »

Happy Thanksgiving to you, Lisa. Guess, whom I will be thanking today! You, of course! For changing my life and for all the time you gave me. I have followed another recommendation of yours and I have to say it works perfectly well for me. One cheating meal a week is exactly what I needed. Of course, it was hard at the beginning to imagine for the whole week what I will be having for this meal. But every time I get to the cheating meal, I seem to be choosing not the snacks and cakes, but some other kind… Read more »

Sharing my experience with everyone around… Duromine wasn’t something i was hesitating to start. The cost, the side effects, I read tons of reviews and even the abundance of positive ones didn’t excite me. Beginning of last year I already had 100 kilos after giving birth to my second daughter. In fact, she was already 3 years old and I kept gaining weight. looking at myself in the mirror one day i decided to stop eating like crazy. Easier said than done, i just couldn’t keep my mouth shut. Thank God for my doctor! He convinced me about Duromine and… Read more »

Hi, April. Sounds like Duromine pills helped you lose weight efficiently. I know that last 10 pounds are something that is hard to get rid of. However, I would advise you to first think of how exactly you managed to lose weight back then and try acting the same way before you resort to Duromine again. This time, it’s only 5 pounds and I am sure you have enough will power to fight them. If you want, I can help you revise your daily nutrition and suggest some simple activities that will help you get back into shape. Another question… Read more »

Just starting my slimming path (23 yo,, 84kg). Any advice on how I should use Duromine to get the best results. My friend used it and lost about 15 kg. but I am heavier than her and have to struggle hard to not eat at night. Will Duromine help me?

Hello, Slim2B. The advice on Duromine use is very simple: drink enough water and keep to a comprehensive weight loss program. You should change your eating habits and make healthy choices, eat every 2-3 hours and in small portions. Include exercising in your daily routine. You can start from walking or get into a sports dancing class, if you prefer dancing. No matter what type of physical activity you choose, make sure you are active at least 30 minutes a day. Good luck and you’re welcome to ask any questions you have!
