Cucumber diet is a very popular weight loss method. This wonderful vegetable is 90% water, and just 15 kcal per 100 g of product.

Even though the diet is called cucumber diet, this does not mean that cucumbers are all you can eat during this weight loss diet. You can consume just the cucumbers and water no longer than 1 day, which is considered a fast day, during which you can lose 0.5 kg to 1 kg.

A longer lasting cucumber diet consists of 7 or 14 days. In this case, cucumbers are the basic food, and the menu is supplemented with:

  • yogurt,
  • protein foods,
  • fruits,
  • vegetables.

MENU

Approximate menu of the 3-day cucumber diet

On the first day, you should eat about 1.5 kg of cucumbers with tomatoes (0.5 kg). You can use them to make a salad with vegetable oil and lemon juice. Divide the salad into 5-6 meals. For dinner, you should have 250 ml of low-fat yogurt.

During the second day, you should eat 1.5 kg of cucumbers, and complement them with one boiled egg for lunch and dinner.

On the third day, you should eat not just the cucumbers, but other vegetables (radish, cabbage, lettuce, carrots), as well. Cucumbers should amount to at least 2/3 of the total weight of vegetables for this day. In the evening, you can have about 150 grams of cottage cheese.

If you decided to extend the diet to 7 days, you can use the following menu option for the remaining 4 days:

DAY 1

  • Breakfast: whole wheat bread + cucumber + slice of cheese + green tea without sugar.
  • Lunch: 2 cucumbers + 1 egg.
  • Dinner: salad of cucumber, onion and dill with olive oil + 250 ml of yogurt.

DAY 2

  • Breakfast: cucumber + steamed egg-whites omelet + unsweetened herbal tea.
  • Lunch: 2 cucumbers + baked fish + 100 grams of rice + green tea without sugar.
  • Dinner: 2 cucumbers + 250 g of yoghurt.

DAY 3

  • Breakfast: toast + cucumber + green tea.
  • Lunch: stewed vegetables + 2 cucumbers.
  • Dinner: cucumber and tomato salad dressed with vegetable oil + 250 ml of yogurt.

DAY 4

  • Breakfast: cucumber + 2 slices of low-fat cheese + green tea.
  • Lunch: vegetable soup without potatoes + 2 cucumbers + oven baked fish (200-300 g).
  • Dinner: 2 cucumbers + a portion of cottage cheese 200 g + 1 orange.

ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES

PROS

  • Cucumber diet allows you to quickly get rid of extra kilograms.
  • Cucumbers is an affordable vegetable, yet only in the summer-autumn season.
  • Cucumber diet contributes to the normalization of the digestive system, but only if you are completely healthy.

CONS

  • Menu based on cucumbers can not be called 100% healthy, so your body will suffer from a shortage of nutrients.To avoid this, you need to take vitamins, especially when the cucumber diet lasts for 3 days or more.
  • When it is not the season for cucumbers, they can be very expensive, so the diet might get quite costly.
  • If you consume only cucumbers during the entire day, hunger will haunt you all the time.

WHAT RESULTS YOU CAN EXPECT

In 7 days of the cucumber diet, you can get rid of 5-6 kg. These are approximate numbers, since each body has its unique characteristics. You result can be influenced by the level of your physical activity and foods that you consume besides the cucumbers. The amount of kilograms that you will manage to lose is also affected by your initial body weight. The higher it is, the better the result.
