Phentermine was developed in the middle of the 20th century as a drug for obesity treatment. Due to its high efficiency and reasonable price, this anorectic is still very popular in such countries of the world as India, USA, Mexico, Great Britain, and Australia.
Today Phentermine is supplied only to the American, Australian, English and Mexican pharmaceutical markets.
In different countries, Phentermine was approved for sale and use at different times:
- since May 4, 1959 in the USA
- since May 24, 2011 in Mexico
- since July 16, 1991 in Australia
- since February 24, 2009 in the UK.
From 1959 to 2007, Phentermine was also supplied to Canada. However, it was withdrawn from the Canadian market because of the likelihood of cardiovascular adverse reactions. In addition, because of cardiovascular risks, this anorectic is not sold in countries of the European Union.
